Not on my merit but by His Grace,

ON LIFE’S MERRY-GO-ROUND

Saturday, 6 September I accompanied my son and nephew as they took their little ones to a nearby park. Because of my mobility constraints, I found a quiet corner to sit and watch, while the children enjoyed the merry-go-round.

After about twenty minutes, they ran back to me, faces glowing with joy. My six-year-old granddaughter, with folded hands and innocent concern, said: “Achacha, sorry, you are sad while we are happy.”

I smiled and replied: “Molu, I am happy when you are happy.”

With my grandkids

In that tender moment, my mind drifted back to the late 1990s, when my father cherished joining us on such outings with his grandchildren. Today, the roles have reversed—those very grandchildren are now taking me along with their little ones. And here I am, the grandpa, savouring precious moments with my grandkids—life completing yet another graceful circle.
